Letter from a concerned citizen in Virginia re: Haley's Rights

I am a mother of four and I want you to know being a survivor of not just one of my children being abused but all four, I can say that what you are doing is a much needed thing. Not only have you provided a living memoir to your child that grows with each person you touch, you are providing awareness where there is little to none. All four of my children were abused in the least expected way by the least expected person. I have one child who was abused in a church at age 3 and was never taken seriously due to her age. I prayed and prayed that the Lord would reveal the truth and he did; 6 months later 11 other children came forward and it led to 110 total victims. The suspect took his life before being tried in court and the church was sued for millions in insurance for their knowledge of his past offenses and yet he was still able to work with children. My other three children were abused by their older stepbrother on a 6wk visit. It was one of the most difficult things of my life to report my own child. Though he didn't live with us he was still a child I took part in raising. I don't know what went wrong with him but he did the unspeakable to my babies and so I had to do what was right. They never charged him with anything nor gave him counseling of any kind. Since that day he has sodomized a boy and yet still has not been charged. He is currently living a street type life and all I can think about is who his next victim will be. It makes my heart ache that there is no one to hear the cries of the little ones in situations like these. What you went through was horrible and what you have made out of it is a beautiful thing. My children didn't lose their physical lives but they did experience "death of their innocence" that no one had the right to take. I applaud you in what you are doing and I am thankful that our paths have crossed. May the Lord bless you in all you do and that the awareness of children's rights be achieved.
