Letter from a concerned citizen re: Haley’s Story (South Carolina)

My name is Kathy. I used to live in Boca Raton, but now reside in South Carolina. I just wanted to say how sorry I am to hear about Haley’s plight. It isn’t fair that her mother got probation. I went high school with Nick Copertino, and thought that his sentence for his accident was completely unfair, simply because he was not under the influence at the time. Haley’s mother however, deserves to sit in a jail cell. She made the choice to drive her child, knowing full well she wasn’t fit to do so. I commend you for the courage it takes to not only deal with your loss, but to find a positive outlet for your anguish.
