Re: Angela Williams (Fire in Tchula which killed six children)
Dear Mr. Powell, Please allow me to introduce the undersigned as an advocate for children’s rights. In reading yesterday’s article in the Washington Post, I was quite dismayed by the comment issued by Mayor Yvonne Brown that charges should not be filed in this case. Obviously, “the mother has to live with what happened”. The fact of the matter is that those children can’t live with it. It is gross negligence when an adult leaves children, especially six children, alone in the way Angela Williams did. What makes it more criminal is the fact that this crime was committed by a parent who, by law, is suppose to protect their children and keep them out of harms way. Child neglect has become too common a practice in this country. There doesn’t seem to be any accountability anymore. The only way to protect our children is to hold people accountable for their negligence. This is one sure way to protect the future of our children in The United States of America. I am asking you to please have sympathy for the six lives lost…not the negligent parent. Very truly yours, Jacques Bobrowsky, President Haley’s Rights
